    STATISTICS SNAPSHOT

Youth Impact Snapshot: Domestic Violence in Maryland

Every day in Maryland, children and teens wake up in homes marked by fear, instability, and trauma. Domestic violence doesn’t just harm adults—it leaves lasting scars on youth who witness, experience, or are displaced by it.

    One Day. Hundreds of Lives

    • 1,229 victims were served in a single day by Maryland’s domestic violence programs.

    • 615 received emergency shelter or transitional housing.

    • 614 accessed non-residential services like therapy, transportation, and legal advocacy.

    • 35% of programs offered therapy or counseling for children and youth.

    • 23% provided youth-specific support services, including trauma-informed care and educational advocacy.

    Unmet Needs = Unheard Voices

    • 255 service requests went unmet—many involving youth—due to lack of funding, staffing, or space.

    • 22% of unmet needs were for emergency housing, leaving children vulnerable to further harm.

    Crisis Calls and Community Response

212 hotline contacts were received in just 24 hours—averaging 9 per hour. Many involved youth seeking help for themselves or a parent.

PUSH For More: Meeting the Moment

These numbers aren’t just statistics—they’re a call to action. PUSH For More exists to fill the gaps:

    • We provide trauma-informed mentorship to youth exposed to domestic violence.

    • We partner with schools, courts, and shelters to ensure safe, healing-centered environments.

    • We normalize help-seeking through storytelling, psychoeducation, and community engagement.

Every unmet need is a missed opportunity to protect a child. Every hotline call is a cry for connection. PUSH For More answers with compassion, strategy, and lived experience.

The stats we shared come from the 2024 Domestic Violence Counts Report published by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). This annual census captures a 24-hour snapshot of services provided by domestic violence programs across the U.S., including Maryland. It’s one of the most widely cited sources for understanding the scope of domestic violence and the support systems in place.

Maryland-specific data is collected in partnership with the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence (MNADV), which coordinates local programs and advocacy efforts. These organizations work together to highlight both the impact and the unmet needs—especially for youth exposed to violence.
